Meta Tags
Definition
Meta tags are HTML elements that provide information about a web page to search engines and website visitors. While not visible on the page itself, they appear in the page's source code. Common meta tags include the meta description, which summarizes the page's content, and meta robots tags, which give instructions to search engine crawlers.
In Google Search Console, you can see how your meta tags are performing indirectly through metrics like click-through rate (CTR) in the Performance report. Issues with meta tags, such as missing or duplicate meta descriptions, may also be flagged in the HTML Improvements report.
